Step by step
1. Use a 5 ¾” square card. Choose 3 co-ordinating papers
2. Select the ‘Happy Birthday’ square – remove all pieces from the sheet and remove all the tags
3. Find the centre of the card front and mark a square 8cm x 8cm to leave approximately a 3cm surround. Score a fold line all the way around the square.
4. With a craft knife, cut two diagonal lines from corner to corner. Fold back each section.
5. Cover the inside of the card with your choice of main paper. From paper one and two, cut two lengths of each approximately 3.3cm wide x the length of the card. Stick these lengths to the card so that opposite corners start with the same colour and so that the papers overlap each other.
6. Fold back the diagonal flaps and cover the inside of the flaps with your third choice of paper. Trim the points of these flaps across so that they fit to the edge of the card. Use direct to paper inking and ink all the diagonal flap edges and the edges of the inside and the outside edge of the card.
7. Make holes approximately 5cm from the straight edge and attach brads. Apply a foam pad to each flap. Fold back and secure.
8. Stick the ‘Happy Birthday’ to the inside of the card so that it is central through the opening. Ink the edges of the cake panel and apply to the panel using foam pads.
9. Stick the ‘to you’ tab to the right hand side flap centrally.
